Bible Book Info & Whatnot was created for a number of reasons. Primarily, I created it as an outlet for my spiritual gift of teaching. I don’t want to go into the whys and wherefores on this page, but if you’re interested in learning more about me, then click here.
However, the more I thought about it, the more I realized there are specific things I hope to accomplish through this website.
First, I want to provide useful information on books written about the bible and how they can be used during personal bible study. There are so many books out there, it is hard to know which ones are beneficial and which ones will waste your time. Let’s be honest, time is a precious commodity and you can’t get it back once it’s been used.
Second, I want to provide information on different versions of the bible. There are many different versions of the bible out there – some are good, some decidedly less so. It’s interesting to see the benefits and detriments derived from the different versions.
Last, but certainly not least, I want to provide bible lessons that help increase your understanding of various bible topics. You may agree with them. You may not. Either way, my prayer is that you ask the Lord to show you His Truth. The information will be presented as I have learned it. If and/or when new information comes to my attention, I will update the lessons accordingly. I’m not perfect, so there will be errors or omissions on occasion. However, it will never be intentionally.
Regardless, whether it’s your first time here or you have been here many times, before you begin reading through anything on this website, I recommend the following…
If you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, I recommend you confess (cite, acknowledge) your known sins to God the Father.
1 John 1:9 states, “If we (freely) admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises), and will forgive our sins and cleanse us continually from all unrighteousness (our wrongdoing, everything not in conformity with His will and purpose.) (Amplified version)
This restores our fellowship with God the Father and fills us with the Holy Spirit. It basically allows us to have a clean slate when we begin our bible study. Remember, there is only spiritual growth when we’re actually spiritual.
John 4:24 states, “God is spirit (the Source of life, yet invisible to mankind), and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (Amplified version)
If you are not a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, the information contained on BBI&W may be of interest to you but it will only help you so far. I’m not saying you shouldn’t read it or that it won’t be of use to you. You definitely should read it and the information will definitely help you, after all, you have to start somewhere in your journey to learn.
However, the real starting point for you should be to place your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Even if you’re not aware of it, a relationship with Him is what you’re looking for and that is what will fill the void in your life. Once you place your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and become a member of the family of God, a whole new world will be opened to you.
John 3:36 states, “He who believes and trusts in the Son and accepts Him (as Savior) has eternal life (that is, already possesses it); but he who does not believe the Son and chooses to reject Him (disobeying Him and denying Him as Savior) will not see (eternal) life, but (instead) the wrath of God hangs over him continually.” (Amplified version)
You may not think you need a relationship with God the Father, but every single human being on the face of the planet, throughout all time, is born with an old sin nature. This old sin nature separates us from God the Father because He is Holy, and with the old sin nature, we’re not. Period. You may disagree, but I’m pretty sure you know some horrid people, or if you don’t know any (which would be a miracle, just saying…), then you’ve certainly heard about horrid people in the world today. You can’t turn on the news these days without hearing about something terrible that has been done by someone who is a few cards short of a full deck.
Anyway, to resolve the sin problem and restore fellowship with the human race, God the Father sent His Son, Jesus, to the earth in the form of a man. Jesus had no earthly father and therefore, he was not born with an old sin nature. In case you didn’t know, Jesus lived a perfect life. He was never mean, never hateful, never spiteful. He didn’t steal; he didn’t commit adultery; he didn’t lie, ever. He always did the right thing and said the right thing. On purpose. And with the right motivation. Always.
As a result, his death on the Cross was acceptable to God the Father as payment for our sins. This may seem harsh. I mean, what kind of father would purposely send his son somewhere, knowing that he was going to die and knowing that he did nothing wrong.
However, John 3:16 states, “For God so (greatly) loved and dearly prized the world, that He (even) gave His (One and) only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trust in Him (as Savior) shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (Amplified)
Sending Jesus to earth to die for the human race was the ultimate act of Love from a Holy God. It was all done to save mankind from the wrath of God and restore fellowship with God the Father. And the good news is that Jesus didn’t stay dead. He rose three days later and now sits at the right hand of God the Father.
Acts 16:31b states, “Believe in the Lord Jesus (as your personal Savior and entrust yourself to Him) and you will be saved, you and your household (if they also believe.) (Amplified version)
My point is this, if you choose to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and what He did to reconcile you to God the Father, you will become a member of the family of God. This will allow you to learn bible doctrine and grow in spirit and in truth. Once you’re a believer, a whole new world will be opened to you and your studies will be all the richer. At that point, before you study, see above to learn what to do as a believer, and then get your study on.
